Issue education records: step by step
Check what you need to do to issue education records to pupils.
-
Step 1:
Education records will be issued by members of staff who know the pupils and can vouch for the identity of pupils who are going to get their education record.
Find members of staff who know the pupils and can vouch for them when they get their education records.
-
Step 2:
Your staff will need DfE Sign-in accounts. They will need to be added to the issue education records service in the data issuer role.
-
Step 3:
You can create groups to divide up your pupils. You can assign members of staff to groups and they will vouch for pupils and issue records. Pupils can also be added to or removed from groups.
-
Step 4:
The member of staff selects a pupil to vouch for from the pupil list in the service. The pupil will need the DfE education record app on their phone and have their mobile phone with them.
The member of staff must recognise the pupil with them and be certain it’s the same pupil that they have selected from the list.
-
Step 5:
A QR code will then be generated on the member of staff's screen for the pupil to scan in the DfE education record app. Scanning this QR code will issue the pupil's education record.
It takes around 1 to 2 minutes to issue each record. The member of staff can then return to the pupil list to select the next pupil to vouch for.
